| We've decided to extend the discounting of the BYZ subscription services, where the initial fee element is reduced by the cost of BYZ Addons that you've purchased in the last 12 months. This relates to the subscription services of BYZ147, BYZ148, and BYZ149. The reduced price will be shown when you get to the confirm-order page (ie after you have entered your domain). |

| BYZ Subscription Services added! You can now subscribe to get addons, or hosting, or both. For people who have bought BYZ addons in the last 12 months, you can trade-in what you've spent on addons in the last 12 months against a reduction in the relevant initial-fee element of the subscription service. This trade-in offer will only last for the next 30 days, so trade-in now! This trade-in relates to BYZ147, BYZ148, and BYZ149. See "subscription services" in the right-panel above or click on "services list" at the top. You'll get/see your discounted price of the subscription when you get to the final "confirm order" page (ie before you make payment, but after you've chosen your domain(s)). For example, if you've spent £120 on BYZ addons in the last 12 months, then you can get BYZ147 for just £37. If you've spent £200 on BYZ addons in the last 12 months then BYZ147 would only cost you £7. The prices concerned relate to prices excluding vat/tax and do not include installation cover/services. PLEASE NOTE: If you already have BYZ072/02 (Installation Cover) then that installation cover becomes invalid after you subscribe. |

| The My-Software screen has been changed to show a traffic-light system which shows a red cross for any modules which need upgrading, and a green tick for any modules which are up to date, which allows you to see at a glance if you need upgrades. | Upgrade protection has been added which you can optionally purchase whenever you buy new modules, domains, or upgrade. It will give you permanent cover against the cost of future software upgrades for your module/domain. | VAT Reduced to 15% - Following the recent government announcements in the UK, VAT (only payable on orders placed from the EU) has now been reduced from 17.5% to 15% with immediate effect from Midnight 1st December 2008, and will remain at 15% for 13 months. All of the bigyellowkey.com ordering and payment processes have been changed to accommodate this. Customers outside the EU do not pay any VAT. Customers from the UK always pay VAT. Customers from the EU (but outside the UK) who have a valid VAT/Tax number do not pay vat. Customers from the EU (but outside the UK) who do not have a valid VAT/Tax number pay VAT. |

| New Software Vendor! SQLInjectionScanner.com (a sister company of BigYellowZone) is now using the BigYellowKey.com site to distribute anti-hacker tools and other products/services which site owners will find very useful. | Mail-Lists (with discounts) added. Your profile now has a mail-list option at the bottom where you can optionally sign up to mail-lists. Some mail-lists will give you discounts (these discounts will be explained on the mail-list description). Default will always be "no sign up" for any customer, either historic or new customers. You will need to explicitly tick the sign-up box and save the changes to get added to the mail-list (and receive the relevant discount). |

| Live/Archived radio buttons fixed - the live/archived/all radio buttons at the top of your "My Software" (and other "My") screens have now been fixed. They were previously one-step behind what you pressed, but are now correct and automatically refresh as soon as you click on one of the radio buttons. |

| Upgrade fix applied. There was a problem when upgrading Backfilled BYZ licences, this has now been fixed, but if you upgraded on BYK prior to this news item being added then go into your "My Software" screen, and check if you have multiple versions of a given product for a given domain; if you have multiple versions then press the archive link on the old versions, then go to your license keys page and create a new license key file, then download that key file and upload it to your site. |

| Sub-Modules added to your software lists - We have now ensured that all of your sub-modules are now listed for your main modules on your software screen. This means that you can now upgrade/download either the main module, and/or the sub-modules. Our upgrading and purchasing procedures use "intelligent" bundling, whereby if you've upgraded/bought all the corresponding sub-modules then you'd automatically also be assigned all appropriate parent bundls, and if you buy/upgrade a bundle then it will automatically assign access to all the sub-modules as well. Checkout your "My Software" screen, as it may now be showing you additional/new sub-modules. |

| BYZ Interface Improved - We have now changed our sister site (bigyellowzone.com) so that you will only get directed to bigyellowkey when you checkout, and not each time you add an item to your cart. Welcome to BigYellowKey.com! Software Management for customers and vendors
BigYellowKey manages the distribution of software for developers who want to sell their code online.
We bring together software vendors and allow them to
purchase/maintain all different kinds of sofware
in a central area.
Main Features (for Vendors)
- No Joining/Setup Fees - Setup your products and start getting sales. No cost at all to start selling your products. If you don't sell anything, then you don't pay anything.
- Low Commission Rates - We charge a straight-forward commission on sales that you make via bigyellowkey.com (starting at an introductory 10% rate for the first 2 months, and then increasing to our standard 15% rate, which is still around half the rate charged by most other sites that act as agents in comparable situations). The rate applies to the amount (before sales tax) that your customers pay for your products on the bigyellowkey.com site. We do NOT take a slice of your tax costs, the commission is taken from the pre-tax prices/costs. If you've given your customer a discount, then we take our commission from the discounted price that your customer has paid, NOT from the full/standard product price.
- Problem/Hassle-Free - Just enter the details of the software you want to sell, upload the file, and leave the rest to us. You don't have to worry about creating your own ecommerce site, or getting a gateway account, we do everything for you, and we simply send you the cash that's due into your chosen account.
- Version Control - BYK automatically controls release versions
- Maillist Management - Setup your own mail-lists which your customers can sign up to on bigyellowkey.com, export the user list, or use the powerful bigyellowkey mail-shot screens to automatically send emails to relevant customers. For example, you can have a "My Upgrades" mail-list which automatically mails your customers telling them when products that they've already got have new ugprades availabe.
- License control - powerful software licensing control features
- Comprehensive Sales Reporting
- SEO - Optimized for Search Engines, the bigyellowkey.com site/structure even allows you to specify your own
filenames for each of your products so that you can direct your customers to a page like:

instead of just using an "id=x" url.
We also create a fresh Google Sitemap file regularly (at least twice a day), so your products will find their way onto Google as soon as possible. We keep an eye on new products being created from our admin screens; whenever we see a vendor's created a new product, we generate a new sitemap file and resubmit the sitemap to google. - Product Images - Upload your own images for each of your products. This is optional, but advised. You don't need to create image files of different sizes; you just upload a single image file (the highest-resolution you've got handy) and the upload process will automatically create additional images on the server of relevant sizes for you WITHOUT distorting the images., so you don't need to create thumbnail files, mid-size images etc; just upload your best/largest image for a given product and we do the rest.
- Upgrade Options - Give your customers whatever options you want regarding upgrades, on a per-product basis. Charge what you want to upgrade from different versions to the latest one, or allow your customers to purchase upgrade protection (at your chosen price, and which lasts as long as you want it to on a per-product basis), or give people free (or reduced) upgrades for however long you want after their initial purchase. Upgrade options are a major part of the bigyellowkey.com structure; different products/vendors need the flexibility to charge/do different things, and our system allows you total flexibility on how you want your customers to get upgrades.
- Bundles and Sub-Modules - You have the option of putting one module "inside" another (for example for bundles, or to put common/shared sub-modules inside a main module) - when a customer orders a given module, the system will automatically work out the bundling logic and give them all the appropriate parent/sub-modules relating to which module/bundle they've purchased.
- Discounts - You can create discounts at any level you want; for all your products (ie by vendor), by product, or by customer, and each discount can be any rate you want. You can even have different discount rates for people who buy your product afresh, people who buy extra domains for products they've already got, and people who buy upgrades.

Main Features (for Customers)
- Live Update - See at a glance when new versions of your products are available - Traffic-Light Style; Green for up to date, Red for upgrade available.
- Mail-Lists - Optionally sign up to different types of mail-lists from any vendor(s) you want, from standard newsletters, to a personally tailored email telling you when new upgrades come out for products you've got.
- Easy Checkout Process - No jumping around, no trying to figure out "do I register first, can I add to my cart first?" - Intuitive and simple checkout process for new customers and existing customers. Just click the add-to-cart link on whatever product you want, and then go to the checkout when you're ready; your mini-cart will follow you regardless of what your login/registration status is.
- Consumer Protection - BigYellowKey is UK based/registered, so no matter where the vendor is based you have the added protection of UK consumer law if anything goes wrong with your software or if you have any issues. UK Consumer law is amongst the best in the world for protecting customers and their rights. So no matter where you are, and no matter where the vendor is based, we operate under UK consumer law.
- No Timeouts - Your login session, and your mini-cart, will never time out on you. You can take your time browsing around and putting things in your cart without having to worry about constantly navigating to keep your session active. Take your time; have a look around; there's no time-pressure, you can come back tomorrow, or next month, and your session/mini-cart will still be there. (you can clear a login session explicitly if you want by simply clicking the logout button).
- Customer Control Panel - Simple control panel, edit your profile/options, or use "My Software" to see what products you've got and to see if upgrades are available via a traffic light system, or you can see the list of vendors that you've bought products from (eg to get their contact details), or you can see the list of domains that you've used when purchasing the software. You can also view your entire order history in summary format, and click on any order to get a printer-friendly copy of the order details.
- Points (Development Time) - Some vendors (such as BigYellowZone) offer "Points" where you can buy development time in 1-minute chunks. You can see your points balance in realtime from the "My Points" screen in the customer control panel, and you can also see the detailed timesheets in realtime to see exactly what was done and when it was done and how long each "chunk" of time took.
- Subscriptions - Some vendors such as BigYellowZone offer a software subscription service where you can get any of their software you want for free as long as you're subscribed (an initial single charge, and a monthly charge thereafter to keep the subscription running). If you cancel a subscription (which you can do at any time) then the software you'd already grabbed will still be legal/valid for the domain that you originally got it for while you were subscribed.
